April 19th Lehigh Parkway Final Results

Lehigh Parkway Discstars.com event
Todays event was a blast, especially due to the fact of some hot new throwers on the scene.
After the front nine holes Zach Rex and Brad Beckwith led the pack at +1 while Yount followed at +2, Denny @ +3, Sam and Greg @ +4, and Spence rounding off the top five @ +5. Rex defeated Beckwith in one overtime hole to claim his second tour event of the season. All in all a great day was had with many tough breaks on the very long and unforgiving Lehigh grass.

i was in charlotte . i just came back on sunday night. 5 of us played 8 courses in 4 days. we played one course that was over 10,000 feet and three that were about 9500 feet and the rest were smaller ones like the parkway. I might play the covered bridge thing on may 9th but since they are having a doubles thing at jordan that day i might do that instead. Then again since i reinjured my shoulder in charlotte i might not play at all.

We already played covered bridges, but I do hope to see you play with us this year. Sounds like Charlotte was a blast and I look forward to hearing about it.

We are still going to play our discstars event @ 10am on May 9th.
This will provide an adequate warm up for any who wish to stay and play the victory park open which follows @ 1pm. Ranking points will only apply during discstars play time.

Sorry i meant victory park on may 9th. I dont know why i had covered bridges on the brain. I was assuming you were making the tour event part of the victory park open at 1pm. Now you say start time is 10 am. Make sure you clarify the start time. I will most likely be at the victory open at 1 pm only.

If you look at the tour page it says the start time of each event when you (click) on the event. 9000yard courses and a warm up at 10 is no good. I'm sorry we will be missing you again. I believe I will be skipping the tournament afterward, for past arrangements were made afterwards.

Then why did you change the course in the first place? My original post was to get your guys to play in a 1 round simple tournament called victory park open at 1 pm. If you are not going to play the thing at 1pm i dont understand why you would change the "newcomers championship" from the easy victory park to the heavilly wooded long trout winery. Also what is this 9000 yard course you are referring to ? That would be like 27,000 feet.

We changed the event to eliminate travel for some guys. We did not do this to cater to a couple of guys who will or will not play week in and week out. Denny and I came up with the idea to give guys the option. Long Trout is a great course for people just starting to figure out their game. The scenery is beautiful, and more importantly the atmosphere for all of those not playing. Some discgolfers aspire to have a high tag in the LVDC and claim that they have played with the very best, etc. Others just like to play, and enjoy the game. I happen to be a blend of both.........but the guys who play with us are up and commers. Once again Brian, we would love to play with you soon and had changed the date and time thinking you would be more involved. So far you have not, but that doesn't mean we won't enjoy your company in the future. All dates are stated way ahead of time for all to see on the tour page. Unfortunately our events can have well over 20 people attending, so we have to cater to the interests of the group, not just the convenience of a few.

what do you mean tooni events can have more than 20 people attending. I have played in about 10 of them and never has there been more than 5 . I introduced denny to the league and he brought 14 guys this past week at the parkway. So really i am responsible for the high attendance. L.O.L. Bow to your master. See you monday. The guys you brought D.N.F'd.

yikes, guess i should just let sleeping dogs lie! But on the other hand the group has grown more with the websites masterful creation than some smacktalking no-show who is afraid to be shown up by new competitors. Not that I could do it, since I had shoulder surgery once, and still am managing to HAVE FUN!! The purpose of course!!!!

Enough Smack talk, if Gunkel wants to play elseware I strongly encourage it. I thoroughly enjoy the thing we have going here. We had over 30 people hucking discs on Sunday, with 27 filling out scorecards. Denny brought a handful of people to play and the website itself brought a ton more. This league is meant to have fun. Yes Brian remembers when I had a league set up with my custom engraving business, and that too was fun, but nothing like this. Every competitor we have is greatly appreciated, and although yes.......we can't make everyone happy, we still just love to play discgolf, and love to compete. I look forward to rocking some trees with the best of you at South Mountain on Saturday!

sean, i invite you to play the ammo this sunday at nockamixon and enter in the pro division and see how fun it is for YOU. I wish all of you the best of luck but hopefully you can understand that if i were to play with guys that are shooting in the 70's,80's and 90's and above it then becomes no fun for me especially if i am in their group. It's not that i am being mean but just the way it is. Hopefully you can understand that. Also to the guy that signed in anonymously and then called me out ,grow some balls. I have a good idea who it is and will talk about that the next time i see them. So in closing i will continue to send new players to the league as i always have and wish you all luck and no hard feelings.

Pee, I've enjoyed playing the two times I've been out with you. Personally, I feel my game is better suited trying to play with players that are better than me. Also, I really respect the rules of the game set forth by the PDGA and can't see playing by another other set of rules. That said, I do respect your intentions and purpose...wishing you the best of luck.

Best of Luck to Lefty Jay and Brian G., I hope to see your names on the pro placewinners at Sportsfest this year. It's a shame none of the new members got to play with you guys to learn a few shots, but best of luck!

Sean Ondush said...

good luck ya'll...I am not a pro disc golfer, and never had aspirations of becoming one. You will never see me at any tournament, as I know my limits. I like to play well, but I firmly believe making a fun time toooo serious would ruin all that. Enjoy your pro careers, and best hucking to you all.

I would prefer that members who play with us try and stick to the topics at hand. You make an interesting point Mr. Gunkel. All you have to do is ask, and people will help you with the courses. But as you may well know, I also have met with the people who are responsible for the courses on a higher level than "the Pros". Their biggest problem as you stated is participation. Pro leagues do not pick up trash, guys like Denny do, and that is what helps this sport out. Pro Leagues create a competitve interest which is flourishing in this area, which I will agree, do help to put in more courses. But the biggest obstacle is getting to speak to the parks commision when they are adjusting their yearly budget. Large amounts of money are granted to each township for recreational purposes in their parks each year, and it is up to the right person, with the right connections to get that course installed. I am not in the habit of deleting comments on the blog, but I'm afraid there is entirely to much back and forth ranting and raving going on. If you have a problem with something that is said, or written, please contact me at peeyount@peeyount.com nd we can discuss it amicably.

I am not trying to argue with anyone but pros do clean up the courses and pick up trash. In fact this saturday they will be cleaning the lake nockamixon course as well as putting back all original 18 holes. But it makes zero sense that you deleted my 100% truth post but yet the post where that skinny coward punk signs in as anonymous and rants is still there. Whatever. Outta here.

Good Point, just deleted it.

I hope your not refering to me there buddy. My computer does not allow anonymous entries and all mine are pretty straight forward. You get way too wound up over this stuff. I thought you were a part of this league, that's why I ask where you are...If that affends you, okay then.

gunkel said...

No sean i am not talking about you. I know who did it. You dont offend me. LOL. Yes I am wound up this year. Good luck this Saturday.

Sean Ondush said...

Thanks, I need it..Nice smack talking, I love that stuff. Good luck at Nockamixon, I have to work, but maybe I'll try a tourney one day...LOL
